OBU Policy for Inclement Weather Conditions

Only during the most severe weather conditions – which could potentially endanger the safety of students or staff – will OBU consider closing or moving to an inclement weather schedule. The decision to close or to adopt the inclement weather schedule will be made as early as possible and will be released for broadcast on the following radio and television stations:

KGFF (AM 1450) Shawnee
KIRC (FM 105.9) Shawnee
KTOK (AM 1000) Oklahoma City
KFOR (NBC, Channel 4) Oklahoma City
KOCO (ABC, Channel 5) Oklahoma City
KOKH (FOX, Channel 25) Oklahoma City
KWTV (CBS, Channel 9) Oklahoma City

If there are no announcements from the above media, the assumption may be made that OBU will be operating on its regular schedule. The OBU switchboard operator will be informed of the decision and OBU students and personnel can call the switchboard at 275-2850, or the University’s news and information office at 878-2107, for 24-hour information regarding the University’s operating schedule.

FALL SEMESTER 2007 FINAL EXAM WEEK

Due to the importance of semester examinations and the University's desire to complete the semester on schedule, every effort will be made to conduct OBU final examinations in accord with the previously announced schedule. Students are encouraged to remain on campus or very near to the campus if severe winter weather approaches the Shawnee area. It is anticipated that final exams will be offered as scheduled December 10-13. PLEASE use sound judgment and do not attempt to travel in dangerous conditions. However, should examinations be offered as scheduled, it will be the responsibility of any student missing an examination to communicate with the course instructor to seek a time for a make-up of the examination.

NOTE: The 10 a.m. period has been absorbed into the adjusted schedule, leaving no free period or Chapel-Assembly during the inclement weather schedule.

University administrative offices will open at 9:30 a.m. when OBU is following the inclement weather schedule. The offices will be informed of closing times on days when the inclement weather schedule is utilized. Student workers should contact their supervisors concerning work schedules on such days.
