Dr. Andrew Armond primarily studies Victorian literature, particularly the Oxford Movement (John Henry Newman, John Keble, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Christina Rossetti, and others) and the question of textual authority in the nineteenth century (i.e., the Victorian "crisis of faith"). He is also interested in Modern and Postmodern literature and has written and/or presented papers on works by diverse contemporary authors such as Kazuo Ishiguro, Umberto Eco, Wendell Berry, Frederick Buechner, Kathleen Norris, and Nick Hornby. In addition, he has researched and written about apocalyptic literature and theory as well as the interrelations of theology, music, and literature.
In 2005, Dr. Armond won the Christine Fall Award for excellence in teaching from Baylor University, where he taught for four years. He has also taught at Belmont Abbey College, a Benedictine school in North Carolina. Dr. Armond has attended various colloquia on the relationship between Christianity and higher education and seeks to be an active participant in the ongoing conversation concerning faith and learning. He also serves annually as a reader for the AP English Literature Exam.
